Might Be a Bit Slow…

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Ahh, so far this morning it seems pretty slow so this must be a sign for me to catch-up on the media and news that has not been posted on the site. I am working on that right now. Moreover, if anybody is seeing this post I have a worded question that I want answered.

The question is: Should I get a PS3 or an Xbox 360?

The dark side of gaming- at least concerning a Nintendo Fanboy like me - is trying to suck me in. I am flip-flopping - not like a politician - between the two systems. PSWii or Wii60! I will keep my Wii and play it when I am not updating this site or working (when is that?).

Boulder Dash-ROCKS! Pr with Images

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

First Rockfordâ„¢ sighting in his natural environment!

The first “Boulder Dash®-ROCKS!TM” screenshots show the level design in the classic Nintendo DSâ„¢ and PSPâ„¢ game mode.

10TACLE STUDIOS and 10TACLE STUDIOS MOBILE, along with co-publisher First Star Software, Inc. are releasing the first screenshots of Boulder Dash®-ROCKS!â„¢ for the Nintendo DSâ„¢ and Sony PSPâ„¢ consoles today. The sequel to the cult classic is getting a complete graphic makeover – just like the game’s hero Rockfordâ„¢, but at the same time is relying on the tried and tested game principle in the classic game mode. The level design emerged in cooperation with the British development studio Tuna Technologies. The long-awaited – and longed-for-return of the popular franchise is scheduled for release on Nintendo DSâ„¢ in November 2007 and PSPâ„¢ in the first quarter of 2008.

Tuna Technologies, who have been developing entertainment software for over 11 years, have worked with many well known brands across a range of platforms. They are especially delighted to be working on Boulder Dash®, which has such a great profile in computer and video game history.

“To have the opportunity to work with one of the games responsible for so many of us entering the game industry is a great honour,” said Alex Amsel, Managing Director of Tuna Technologies. “We are really excited to be partnering with 10TACLE STUDIOS and First Star Software, and to co-develop what we feel will be a great addition to the Boulder Dash® series”.

This challenging, arcade-puzzle game made its debut in the early 80s and continues to fascinate its enormous fan base decades later. Today the game is acknowledged as one of the classic cult games in computer gaming history. Now Boulder Dash® will appear with a hot new look sure to take the Nintendo DS™ and the Sony PSP™
platforms by storm. The hit game’s main objective and game physics remains unchanged: the player has to collect a certain number of diamonds while avoiding falling objects, traps and besting enemies in order to open and discover the exit, before time runs out. Of course there are a number of helpful tools made available to players such as bombs or laser guns which can be loaded with different types of ammunition. These lasers provide the player with different temporary powers, such as the ability to freeze enemies, destroy boulders and even pull diamonds and other distant objects towards the player.

In addition to the classic single-player mode, presented in several different worlds, Boulder Dash®-ROCKS!™ offers a multi-player mode as well as three additional game modes for a total of five play modes for each version. There are two new game modes, never before available in the Boulder Dash® series, one of which has been custom designed for each of the two different platforms.

WII-KLY UPDATE: THREE NEW CLASSIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

The Virtual Consoleâ„¢ is like a box of chocolates: You never know which games have the tasty caramel filling and which ones have that pink-green crème inside. Whatever your preference, we’ve got you covered with this weeks release of Star Soldier, Dynamite Headdy and Drop Off. Read on and savor the delicious centers of these classic treats.

Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. Wiiâ„¢ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Pointsâ„¢ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

Star Soldier (NES®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Fantasy Violence, 500 Wii Points): The standard for vertically scrolling shooters, Star Soldier is the original game that spawned all of the titles in the long-running Soldier series. Go inside a floating space station inhabited by a giant computer known as Starbrain. Your mission: to stop Starbrain’s galactic invasion by piloting Caesar, a new, compact space fighter through 16 deadly stages. Collect power capsules to increase three different attributes of your ship: firepower, movement speed and defensive shields. Blast wave after wave of approaching enemies or use the innovative Trap Zone feature to fly beneath a land mass and avoid incoming fire. Conquer each stage to make your way to the final confrontation with Starbrain.

Dynamite Headdyâ„¢ (Sega Genesis, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Comic Mischief, 800 Wii Points): Headdy, a toy with a detachable head, arrives in North Town to find that the evil puppet king Dark Demon is causing serious problems. Dark Demon is gathering up all the puppets in town and turning some into his own evil minions, while eliminating the rest of the puppets that aren’t good enough to join his legions. Headdy is captured and is targeted for the incinerator, but escapes in the nick of time. Now he’s got to save the town. To do so, Headdy has to take on all manner of bad guys and even has to contend with his lifelong nemesis, Trouble Bruin the bear. Can Headdy overcome all his foes and take down Dark Demon?

Drop Off (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points): Brave five rounds of haunting, nightmarish dreams in this take on the classic arcade puzzler. To save his dearly beloved from the malicious demon that controls her dreams and holds her captive, our brave hero plunges himself into the nightmare to vanquish this evil foe. Deftly use the arrow items and control the angle of the ball to shatter the blocks that descend from the top of the screen. Set your sights on the joints holding the blocks together and knock off multiple blocks in one exhilarating blow. As you drop more and more blocks, their shapes will change, allowing you to earn bonus points. You must use your concentration and reflexes to defeat the demon and save your beloved.
